Dear prospective members of MLP-VectorClub:

I hope you all had a nice holiday. As you may or may not recall, we posted a journal in mid December stating that queue work would be slow over the holidays. Unfortunately for you prospective members, "slow" turned out to be "non-existant". In case you weren't aware, I am usually the only one who processes membership requests. While I had a nice vacation, I did not process any of them. For that I wish to apologize. I expect to be back in full swing (processing at least one request per day) starting Monday, 12 Jan 15. Please resubmit your membership request starting Sunday, and they should be processed within a week.

Do remember to follow the how to join instructions!

I am sorry for the massive delay on processing and look forward to seeing your excellent applications.

Attention Equestria Girls Vectorers: While the formal guides have yet to be generated, we do have accurate colors for key Rainbow Rocks characters. Check the description of the color guide for links.

I have a query or two regarding this accepted submission that I thought I'd go a bit more public with this time around:

Hearts and Hooves Day by ChainChomp2

When I first submitted it to the "Group" folder it was initially accepted, but some time later was moved to the "Canon characters with OCs" folder under the main "OCs" directory.

I asked the VI on the thread of my submission about moving it back, since neither of the characters in the image are OCs before he agreed to do so, agreeing that she is technically canon.  As of the time I write this, it's been moved back to the "Canon characters with OCs" folder again.

I mention this in the deviation's description already, but thought I'd openly mention here that the unicorn (Lovestruck) is a pony from Hasbro merchandise that happens to use Twilight Sparkle's template, and her appearance in this work is based on her appearance in Gameloft's mobile citybuilder app.

Does the group or the manager that's probably moving it back use the term "HasbrOC", by chance?  Otherwise, she can basically be described as a G4-ified Always and Forever, who was a G3 pony.

Or maybe it's the other pony that looks like an OC.  He's a background character in the show, even if he does look very similar to a more well-known one.  But even then I've submitted several deviations with him to the group, and none of those ever ended up in the OCs folder. .-. Face

All that aside, might I ask that it be moved to a more suitable folder, or find out why it should stay in the "Canon characters with OCs" folder?

I guess this would be  good place to ask.  Yes I am Z.   I have been fascinated by the brony fandom so much I may want to do reviews and analysis of the show.  The best ones I've seen have good and high quality vectors.  However when trying to figure this out through tutorial means especially some from here I just have a blank mind.  Not criticizing the tutorials I can never understand anything computer related.  So I come here and request if not ask one of the members here to by my Pony Vector artist to make vectors for my upcoming show i planned for my OC and other characters i may have in mind.  Of course this is voluntarily so I can't offer any money.  My OC is pony generated mad but I prefer not to vector with MLP Generator.  So if any of you has a passion for vectoring and has time to kill and is interested in this proposal please contact me and send me a note. ^^

Always check the description and/or License terms (bottom of the right sidebar) for every image. Best to follow these in order:
1- If the license says Creative Commons, click there to figure out what you are and aren't allowed to do. It will also tell you how to credit the artist.
2- If there is no license, but the description says you can reuse it, follow the instructions provided there as far as crediting goes.
3- If there is no license, and no wording in the description for or against reuse, contact the artist to obtain permission.

Hey, my name's Shift, I am the main animator along with 3 other co-animators, and we are making a series based on the famous Turnabout Storm story, and right now, we are looking for people to make custom background MLP-styled vector backgrounds. More information down below.

If there is anyone who'd like to help out on the project, please let us know on the Youtube video. Thanks. :)

Hello, my name is Jeffmire, but you can call me Kerb. I am currently managing a project to make a pony dating simulator. As of right now, I need artists that are capable and willing to make pony vectors and/or background images for our game.I was told this was a good place to look for vector artists. Since this is a volunteer group so there won't be any money made off this. If this interests you, please send me a note and I will give you any information you need.

Thank you,
Jeffmire

So I'm a bit confused. Does this mean I can use backgrounds from the Resources-Backgrounds folder unless the description of the background I wish to use say not to use it? I want to make sure because I'm new to all this.

Edit: I forgot to mention I must give credit to whoever made the vector.

I need some help with a vector I've got to work on. I'm not a good hand artist and while I've made the background for my new desktop background, the two ponies that are the center point aren't even started. The problem is I'm looking for a pose I'm sure I'll never EVER find in the show, and as such can't vector from another image. I've also never seen a base to match what I'm looking for. Where should I go to get help with this? I'm not well connected and only vector once or twice a year on average as inspiration strikes. You can see the background I've made in my gallery, but alas the ponies are missing.

If you want to draw yourself you could have a look at a couple of guides and tutorials. That's a lot to read so I'd recommend you read some random entries which look interesting to you and then just start scribbling something, it's easier once you get started. The most important thing to me is undersketching, drawing three circles and a couple of straight lines always helps me get something tangible I can work with.

If you don't want to draw yourself you need to explain precisely what you want and find someone who is willing to do it. Explaining precisely what you want can also help you draw it yourself.

Sorry for the late response, I've been pretty busy. I don't mind drawing it myself, and Actually finished about 75% of the base image, but I'm working with funky angles on these characters and while I can form the image in my head, I can't make it happen on paper. I could upload the basic line drawing I've made thus far, but I don't know how to really get more help on it. I'll be sure to check out those guide and see if they help. Thanks for the response.

Well, as soon as you have some base image or sketch or something like that you can always post it somewhere and ask for critique, e.g. MLP Drawing School or MLP vectors on reddit or just fire up a search engine and find places where you can look for critique, there probably are plenty more.

Printer color space varies greatly depending on make, model, ink-set, paper, age, ....
Probably best to just use the RGB guides, then use proper ICC profiles for your printer and media.

Speaking of that, if you're interested in having your original images printed and/or sold at conventions on your behalf, give this a look :) docs.google.com/forms/d/1PtNax…

My problem is: I have a set of embroidery thread (335 colors) and a table which tells me the RGB value of each color. I wrote a little program which reads a rgb hex value and finds the thread which matches best (distance is measured in the DIN99 color space which is a improved variant of the L*a*b* color space).

Sometimes this works well (RD mane e.g.), sometimes not (RD body vs. RD body outline, it chooses a darker fill color than outline color).

IIUC the problem with printing is that some rgb colors cannot be produced by a printer so I thought probably these colors also can't be produced for embroidery thread.
Therefore I'd like to have a color guide which tells me which color to use when printing.

I see. But remember also that you can get thread that is outside of RGB and CMYK color space! (Silver, gold, "hot" colors, etc).
When I had a vector embroidered, I spent a good amount of time with the thread RGB swatches, trying to eyeball the best match. Is it an issue of figuring out which thread to order, or do you have all the colors in-stock?

Thanks for signing up btw! If you know anyone else who might be interested, please pass it along!
