Equestria Girls
Hello everyone,

We are writing to inform you that we have recently removed deactivated accounts from the group. We are preparing to remove inactive members as well.

The sweep will occur no earlier than 1 week from today (so on or around May 18), and will affect all members who haven't submitted artwork since November, 2013. This only applies to people who are actually members of the group - this isn't going to affect you if you are simply watching the group.

Remember, our membership rules state that you must submit art at least once every 6 months (Rule 1.3). To avoid being removed, simply submit a new vector sometime this week, or send the group a note.

Thanks for your understanding,
MLP-VectorClub

Update 20 May: It is done. 196 members removed due to inactivity.

Shaded vectors are allowed? (my profile pic, for example)

I think so, as long as all effects are vectors too.
Especially, since shading has been used in the show since the very first episode:
Spike totally loves it but Twilight is not impressed :-)

(lol Twilight being Twilight)

That means my shading style is not allowed?

Perhaps just contribute it to one of the "Original Style" subfolders, I'm pretty sure that's allowed :-)

I can't put in an application to join seeing as I do not have the requirements, but I did add you to my watch. I hope I can give something someday so I can join the club.

Hi, I've been writing up the colors in the color guide into usable Inkscape palettes for my own use, but I was wondering if you'd be interested in hosting the files. I've heard that the creator of Ponyscape has color palettes for the ponies, but that they may or may not be very accurate. Thanks :)

just checking does my more recent art match up to the quality of this group?

I'm not an admin but I'd say "Fan girl Luna", "Vinyl and Octavia", "Lizzielove2401" and "Trixie I won did I not" match the quality standard.

"Nightmare Moon" also matches the quality standard except for the mane which needs blur, see the Nightmare Moon Mane Tutorial for details.

How do i use a vector file? I've looked at the link but it didn't really help me... Could there possibly be a way i can actually use a vector without downloading it? Thanks. I'll draw a picture for you if you don't mind! Just for fun.

I'm not an admin in this group, but I took a look at your gallery: Your vectors currently miss the quality standard in this group (don't worry, not by much), for example all stroke widhts vary really much. Have a look at the common errors and the tutorials section in general. I could give you more detailed critique on your vectors if you provide the source files.

In order to join you need at least 4 clean vectors, and you need to read the rules for joining.

I need a vector made for me, desperately. I want to create a pony themed visual novel, and I have all the backgrounds I need except one.
mlp.wikia.com/wiki/File:Mane_6…
(If this is already made, can someone send me a link?)
This is very crucial, as it is the beginning scene.
If someone would do this for me, feel free to take your time, just tell me first. I need to draw the character sprites and such. You will have a while.
Thank you!

QUESTION: In 'what is a vector', why is Photoshop said NOT recommended? I use photoshop myself, so I am curious.

There are a multitude of reasons as to why Photoshop is not recommended for Vector Art here:

1. Photoshop is first and foremost a Raster-based Editing Program. It simply does not have the same kind of tools for Vector Artwork that a proper Vector-based Editing Program such as Illustrator and Inkscape. For instance, most people who use Photoshop outline every stroke as a path, which can lead to errors much more consistently then something like the stroke tool in Illustrator. Another aspect to this is that in order for your images to be submitted here, your work must be 100% vector based. This means no filters or effects of any kind. You would also need to work on a 3000px X 3000px plane for the most accurate and high quality exports. This can take a huge toll on lower end PCs, as complicated imagery can reach 100-400mb in file size.

2. Compatibility between Photoshop and Vector-based Software is abysmal. This means that if you put your source file online for people to use, if they opened it in anything but Photoshop the image itself would break, and most likely be far from what was made.

Regardless of these however, if a person is able to meet our requirements on all levels, and uses Photoshop correctly, we would have no issue accepting their work.

ok, well, I know I did a 3000x3000 px at 600dpi, and used shape vectoring rather than paths, so i can resize if I need to without loss of quality.

THanks for the information. I might go for another program if I can find it, but i am primarily photoshop for now.

Well... I use flash too (hoping to animate) but nothing released for that, yet.
